Prince T22 Tennis Shoe Review:

The Prince T22 Tennis shoes replaced a pair of New Balance 696 Tennis shoes. The New Balance 696 was low height, and since I had 2 pairs of low-height tennis shoes back to back, I wanted to go with another pair that was in between low and mid-height. Previously, I had great experiences with Prince shoes (T14 and NFS Viper)  so I took a plunge on getting the T22.  The color was one of the first things that drew me to choose this model. All of the colors available are nice, but the Navy and Lime just sends a special kind of statement, it screams cool and unusual so it was right up my alley. Looking at the sole of the shoe, you can see a few areas of tread patterns, including the TPU forefoot unit. Prince T22 Tennis Shoe SoleI never felt that those different areas made a difference in the amount of traction I had on the tennis court. Along with the TPU forefoot, the whole upper of the Prince T22 just had a very comfortable and tight-fitting, locked-in feeling. In many of my prior shoe reviews, I talk about ventilation playing a big part in my enjoyment of the shoes. The T22’s did not disappoint. As you can see, there is plenty of mesh in the toe box, tongue, and on both sides of the upper which has made wearing and playing in these tennis shoes very comfortable during the very hot summer months. The shoes had a very stable feeling, part of the reason for this had to be how heavy they were. The T22’s were a full 4 oz heavier than my previous pair of New Balance 696 tennis shoes. You can feel the heft when you put on the shoes for the first time. I wondered how the weight would affect my on-court movement. I thought I might have to end my relationship with the shoes much earlier than normal. However, I was pleased that the heaviness did not hamper my movement at all. Even during the most intense court movements, my feet never felt too heavy to move.

Prince T22 Tennis Shoe Pros & Cons:

Pros:

Color/Design – The shoe design is very eye-catching. All colors look good, but the Navy and Lime give the T22 a more special look

Price – The price is reasonable for a great pair of tennis shoes. Not the cheapest, and not the most expensive, but you get a lot of style and function for the money.

Support – The weight and fit of the T22 made my foot feel very stable and supported.

Ventilation – Mesh in all parts of the upper, including the toe box which is where I need the most ventilation made the shoe very comfortable during the hottest summer days.

Cons:

Weight – Some may feel that the T22 is too heavy. If this is the case, there is a Prince T22 Lite Tennis Shoe model that weights a little bit less than the regular T22’s

Conclusion:

I would recommend these shoes. The only reservation I would have is with the weight. The weight of the shoe may be an issue for some players. If this is the case, I’d suggest trying the T22 lite model for a lighter feel.
